Cal Jam 2018 Jams Again

Earlier in the year, as the announcements came of festival season approaching, Cal Jam 2018 rose to the occasion with a solid and impressive lineup.

The anticipation culminated on Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th at the beautiful picturesque grounds at Glen Helen Amphitheater.

To enjoy all things music, there were three music stages, one comedy stage and a rock museum. For extracurricular activities, there was overnight camping with a nighttime movie screening, water rides for the campers, a ferris wheel, carnival rides and games and tons of food and drink selections.

The music stages brought music for the masses for 12 hours and endless high-lights with bands like Billy Idol (headlining Friday night), Manchester Orchestra, Thunder Pussy and Deer Tick. Greta Van Fleet provided debates on their uncanny duplication of Led Zeppelin, but also an undeniable recognition of their raw talent. Garbage took us back to the 90's and had a magical moment when they performed “Only Happy When it Rains” and summoned actual rain to fall in the moment. The hilariously talented duo Tenacious D brought their usual melody and comedy. The Godfather of Punk, Iggy Pop with the Post Pop Depression proved to show just why he owns that title. And as headliners of the night, the Foo Fighters not only brought an extensive list of their own hits, but they confirmed the anticipated rumors of a Nirvana reunion with Joan Jett as a special guest.

It was undoubtedly one of the best festivals of the year with a superb lineup and immaculate setup and organization. The creators at Cal Jam are no strangers at putting together an amazing music festival.
