Aterciopelados, Susana Baca, Dr. Shenka and Enrique Bunbury Join Their Voices On LIBERTÉ

Aterciopelados (Colombia), Susana Baca (Peru), Dr. Shenka (Panteón Rococó-Mexico) and Enrique Bunbury (Spain), join their voices and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with “Liberté”: a song where they raise their voice for the defense of human rights and of those they protect.

Drums, percussion instruments, winds and vocals are fused together in a sonic manifesto, creating a tribal hymn filled with conviction for Freedom in these pivotal times, where individual liberties are facing major threats.

The composition by Héctor Buitrago doesn’t only capture the essence of the French Revolution with an enthusiastic "¡La Liberté!", but it also celebrates the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Paris (France) on December 10, 1948.

The beautifully produced video is inspired by the mural “Todos los derechos, todas las personas” created by the artist Eva Bracamontes, which is located in the Central de Abasto in Mexico City.

The song “Liberté” is available on digital platforms and the video will premiere on Aterciopelados’s YouTube channel on December 10, the day of the commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Aterciopelados will return to Mexico City to debut “Liberté” on December 11 during an intimate concert for human rights activists, ambassadors, and various organizations.

This project is sponsored by the EU Delegation in Mexico, and joins several events that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Mexico (UNHCHR) has developed as part of the initiative.
