Bunbury Releases "Greta Garbo" & Announces Limited Return To The Stage

Bunbury is sure to make an impact this year with the release of a distinctive album full of songs that will surprise his fans for their originality, titled "Greta Garbo". This is a Bunbury that has been rejuvenated and is ready to take on the world!

With an eye towards the 70s soul and recorded entirely in analogue, the album was recorded at El Desierto Casa Estudio, just outside of Mexico City, in the Desierto de los Leones and it was produced by Adán Jodorowsky.

The record's focus track is called "Nuestros Mundos No Obedecen A Tus Mapas" which is "a declaration of principles about the greatness of the songs and their ability to be free, avoiding common places, something not seen a lot in society. It is a very powerful song, with a lot of guitars. I wanted to start the album with something electric and full of substance. A song that would show the listener what's new and what to expect from Greta Garbo. A fresh change, a different perspective, a new context."

About "Greta Garbo":

"I was finally out on the road with the first tour in almost three years after the period of constraints brought on by the pandemic. In conjunction with the 35th anniversary of the release of my debut album in 1987, our tour's goal was to take people on a journey through my whole career, from my first stage with Héroes to my final albums as a solo artist. Unfortunately, my experience on the tour was quite stressful and unpleasant. As everything was "sold out" in Mexico and the USA, getting on stage became more and more challenging. My health problems included a strange sense of sand in my lungs and a persistent nightly cough that kept me awake and scratched my throat. Psychologically, it was like trying to climb the tallest mountain every day. Finally, we decided to cancel all of the remaining performances. Desperate, I made the decision to admit that I was no longer able to perform under those circumstances."

"I wrote the songs for the new album during that time frame and in the months that followed. Some people expressed their rage and displeasure at the circumstance. Others observed my final exit as they looked at a glimmer of hope in creation. In many of the tracks on the album, there is a mix of restlessness and agitation, in the face of what might be referred to as the Greta Garbo syndrome. At the height of her career and at the age of 36, the well-known Swedish actress made the decision to leave the movie industry. Circumstances led me to believe that, even if I kept writing and composing, leaving the stage would result in an unwelcome distance from the audience. This record is a response to the trauma suffered throughout this period."

After learning that his condition was a reaction to a chemical contained in the smoke used in today's concerts, which lingers in the air for a few days, the famed Spanish singer has reconsidered performing live again. He has thus announced a string of exclusive performances that will reunite him with his devoted following.
